Timothy Bowles
By the age of 18, when Tim was studying Acting at the Victorian College of the Arts, he had already worked in show business for more than 10 years. During that time, he had appeared in “The Sullivans” for Channel 9, “Prisoner” for Channel 10, and “The Twenty Good Years” and “Lawson’s Mates” for the ABC, as well as being a regular character-performer on “Young Talent Time”. After leaving V.C.A. to appear in the ABC serial, “Home”, Tim travelled to New York, where he studied and performed at the HB Studio, directed by Herbert Berghof and, for a series of workshops on “Hamlet”, Anthony Hopkins. Fellow-students at HB Studio included Kerry Armstrong and Alexander Bernstein. After Tim returned to Australia, he worked in children’s theatre and television in Sydney and Melbourne before moving to Perth. Tim has been a founding member of ‘Moving Images Performing Arts Company’ (1987 – 1990); ‘The Edge Creative Arts Community and Performing Group’ (1991 – 1997) and Scripture Union Performing Arts Department (1998-2000). Tim has had some time out of performing while raising a young family, but is returning to his acting and performing roots.
Cara Phillips
Cara Phillips trained in acting at Curtin University, and quickly became an avid participant in the Perth Theatre scene, where she worked with various professional and independent Theatre companies. At the same time Cara trained in singing and music, taking private singing lessons over a ten year period, and also worked as a director, writing and directing about 15 different shows in Perth, one of which toured Internationally. It was this passion for directing which took Cara away from Perth in 2009, firstly to shoot a feature film in China, followed by a second film in India in 2010. (Both are still at the editing stage!) Whilst following her dreams overseas Cara worked professionally as a singer, performing about 300 concerts in countless venues over the last two years. At the start of 2011 Cara decided to return to Perth, and also to acting. The years since her last stage appearances in Perth have brought many new experiences, from volunteering in slums to working in rehabilitation, to meeting international film makers and performing Celine Dion covers on Chinese national TV. Cara is looking forward to bringing some of this experience to acting roles in Australia.
