Sheena Meyer
Sheena started taking dance classes at high school because it was the only subject that had no homework! Much to her surprise she loved it and had the chance to perform several times at the Octagon Theatre. This sparked her passion for performance.
Having gained this new passion Sheena realised that she needed to learn more about dance, and so she joined classes at SCD. Through SCD she had the opportunity to perform many times in the church and the local community. Having increased her training she was asked to found a performance team, with her sister Nicole, and they began ‘Breakin’ Groundz’, a thriving performance team based in SCD. This gave her an outlet for her choreography.
In the last 12 months Sheena has been offered a position in ‘Lady Velvet Cabaret’, performed at Project Dance Sydney, taught Hip Hop at SCD and Ellenbrook Christian College, and she also hosts Hens Nights. She cannot get enough, wherever there’s a dance floor Sheena is on it. Sheena has participated in Masterclasses by top Hip Hop and dance artists such as Marko Panzic and Phly Crew in Sydney.
This year Sheena is excited to be teaching Hip Hop for high school students.
Bethan Smille
Bethan was introduced to the world of dance at just 3 years old, taking jazz, tap and ballet classes at her local dance school. These classes soon blossomed into a passion that had her dancing at every opportunity. Bethan took part in yearly exams to develop her technique and annual competitions that allowed her to work on her performance skills. During this time Bethan taught young children’s dance.
While she loved all styles of dance, Ballet proved to be her passion. After a year off from dance to concentrate on her year 12 studies, she was thrilled and humbled to accept an offer of a teaching place at Southern Cross Dance. The atmosphere and vision of SCD seemed a perfect fit, allowing Bethan the opportunity to continue learning and developing her own dancing, while also being able to pass on her experiences in the dance world to the students.
